Tanya Khan

Tanya Khan is senior double-concentrator in Biology and Economics at Brown University. For the past two years, she has been working in a laboratory researching developmental pathways in Drosophila melanogaster, the common fruit fly. At present she serves as the coordinator for a students group on campus that tutors low-income middle school girls in math and science. Having spent the spring semester of her junior year studying abroad in Paris, France, Tanya gained an appreciation for travel and hopes to spend some time after Brown exploring South Asia.

Boaz Munro

Boaz Munro is a senior at Brown University concentrating in History with a focus on the Middle East. A student of Arabic and Hebrew, he studied abroad at the American University of Cairo in the spring of 2008, during which time he blogged frequently. Boaz devotes much of his extracurricular time to acting, watching movies, and Project 20/20, a student-run project distributing compact-fluorescent light bulbs to low-income Rhode Islanders. Boaz is currently a Teach For America Corps Member in New York City.

Emily Silverman

Emily Silverman is a History of Art and Architecture concentrator and pre-med student at Brown University. Before entering medical school in 2010, she will be taking a gap year to do clinical research at Christian Medical College in Vellore, India. Having taken classes in film at Brown, Columbia, and the University of Barcelona, she hopes to incorporate her interests in visual arts and documentary into her medical career.

Max Grey is a freshman at Brown University who is thinking of concentrating in either Modern Culture and Media or Religious Studies. Last summer he co-wrote, directed and shot a full-length film in both Los Angeles and Iceland. He is excited to combine his filmmaking skills with his interest in humanitarian work, and hopes he will be able to do similar projects on a larger scale in the future.

Elizabeth Inglese

Elizabeth Inglese graduated Brown University in 2008 with Honors in English Literature and Cultures. She spent much of her college years studying poetry, fiction and narrative theory. When not in class, Elizabeth worked in the Photography Studio and as a photographer for campus events. She has published poetry and photographs. For her work with nonprofits over the last four years, she was awarded the Wiley. W. Manuel Award for ProBono Legal Services by the State Bar of California. Originally planning on matriculating to Law School, Elizabeth has changed her plans in favor of the creative and will be attending The University of Southern California in pursuit of her Masters in Professional Writing.

Adriana Urruela

Adriana Urruela is a Biomedical Engineering and pre-med student at Brown University. She will be joining the team after a semester in Hong Kong and traveling extensively through Southeast Asia. After finishing Brown in 2010 and before entering medical school in 2011, Adriana plans on doing research in hospitals throughout South America to gain experience in medicine in the Third World. Having been exposed to different cultures all over the world, Adriana hopes to use what she has learned to format successful interviews and help accurately depict the situation in Uganda.
