Ilona is concentrating on the processes that lead to the emergence of urban slums and the crafting of policy necessary to eliminate them through an individually designed curriculum that incorporates urban studies, public policy, and history courses. Studying urban poverty, and those persons who are marginalized by it, she has spent time in different parts of the developing world, including China and Senegal. As a student in New York, she works with the dispossessed, particularly underserved kids, to find a voice in their communities. She hopes to continue Students of the World at NYU next year.
