A New SWAP Community

The visit to Oduol Widow’s and Orphans Group was different because they have only been recently connected with SWAP. We met with two women’s groups. One group, the Oduol Widows, started four years go, has 60 members, and has members that work as farmers, owners of small scale businesses, and care takers of orphans. The other group started two years ago in order to eradicate poverty with the vision to lead a better life in the future by learning to be better than they were before joining the group.

It was amazing to see, again, how strong these women are. They have come together to form a group, without knowing each other, without knowing what they were going to be learning, without knowing what to expect. They are starting a place where women can be empowered to make their own income, and even invest and start a small business through SWAP. Every time we see a group like this, we leave thoroughly inspired by the group’s sense of community and acceptance for everyone.
