Lighting a Billion Lives (LaBL)
Team Goal: $7,500
Our goal is to provide lighting systems for one rural community under TERI’s Lighting A Billion Lives fee-for-service implementation model. Solar charging stations are set up in villages for charging the lanterns and providing them on fee-for-service (or rental) basis to households and enterprises. The charging stations are operated and managed by local entrepreneurs who are selected and trained by TERI in association with its grass-roots level partners and other like-minded institutions.
The cost of implementing this model in one community is $7,500. This includes:
- 50 solar lanterns at the cost of $100 each.
- A solar charging station for the lanterns.
- Capacity building and training local partners to use the technology.
- Outreach and development.
You can give any amount you desire and even personally sponsor one solar lantern by clicking the $100 amount above. All the contributions go directly to TERI North America , a registered 501©3 non-profit organization, and will be tax deductible for U.S. tax purposes. See Change does not take a percentage of funds raised: 100 percent of donations go directly to TERI/Lighting A Billion Lives initiative.
When our goal is reached, you can follow along on See Change as TERI brings solar lighting to one more rural community in India.
If you are an individual or business interested in making a matching grant, or for information on partnering with TERI/Lighting A Billion Lives, please contact Neha Misra (TERI, North America) at neha@teri.res.in
