Carina is an environmental sciences and policy major pursuing a certificate in Latin American studies. She is a devoted member of Environmental Alliance, Project Wild and Mirecourt, a selective living group, and she spent fall 2007 studying abroad in Ecuador and traveling to Argentina and Chile. She loves pumpkin chocolate chip bread and Jesse, her beautiful, beautifully behaved basset hound.
Jane Chong
- Hometown: Chicago, IL
- School: Duke
- Age: 21
- Email: jyc4@duke.edu
Jane studies English, economics and philosophy and serves on the daily newspaper's editorial board, the Honor Council and the Undergraduate Judicial Board. She enjoys cheese, hummus and carbohydrates and asks a lot of questions - which is fitting, as she will be leading the team's interviews in Brazil.
Lauren Jones
- Hometown: Austin, TX
- School: Duke
- Age: 23
- Email: l.a.jones@mac.com
Lauren is majoring in public policy with certificates in documentary studies and Latin American studies. She is skilled with a hammer, is a thoroughly active Project Wilder and never wears sunscreen. Lauren backpacked through Patagonia in the spring of 2007 and spent the following semester documenting Argentina's election alongside an Irishman. Her insatiable curiosity brought her to Duke's Students of the World leadership, and the crew would loyally follow her into the City of God itself.
Andrew O'Rourke
- Hometown: Wyomissing, PA
- School: Duke
- Age: 19
- Email: ado6@duke.edu
Andrew is triple majoring in Arabic, political science and environmental science and policy. He is a fan of angelfish, concerts with friends and Phillips screwdrivers. An experienced filmmaker, Andrew won the 2008 Froshlife Film Festival. He plans to change many things at Duke through his elected position on Duke's student government. Andrew wants to have kids one day and hopes to teach them about civic engagement through film, immersion and preventive safety.
Dani Potter
- Hometown: San Juan Capistrano, CA
- School: Duke
- Age: 18
- Email: dani.potter@duke.edu
Dani plans to major in public policy and Italian studies. She has been active in her local and Duke communities through tutoring, teaching and bartending (though not necessarily in that order). She hopes to expand her horizons to the global arena as the team's documentary journalist, putting her distinctive voice in the service of the powerless. She enjoys animated discussions, the scent of Coppertone, Bond films, the Beach Boys and goldfish.
